Do I need an OBD adapter?
For live diagnostics, yes — a small Bluetooth adapter that plugs into your car's OBD-II port (every petrol car from 2001, diesel from 2004, has one). Without an adapter, AutoSense still works in adapter-free mode: GPS mileage tracking, service reminders and maintenance logging.
Which adapter should I buy?
For most drivers, the Vgate iCar Pro — the BLE 4.0 version (around ₦45,000), which works on both iPhone and Android; avoid the older 3.0, which is Android-only. It auto-sleeps so it never drains your battery. If you want to future-proof for our upcoming Pro full-system diagnostics, the OBDLink MX+ is a buy-once option that works today and unlocks Pro later. The app recommends the right adapter for your exact vehicle, and you can order one from the AutoSense shop.
What is AutoSense Pro?
Pro is an optional upcoming plan (less than a Netflix subscription) that goes beyond engine & emissions to read your other modules — ABS, airbag/SRS, TPMS and transmission — plus consumer-safe service resets, on supported makes. The essentials stay free forever; Pro is never required. It needs a capable OBDLink adapter. We're building coverage make-by-make — join the waitlist to hear when your car is supported.
What is an AutoSense Credit?
AutoSense Credits (ASC) are the pay-as-you-go currency for AI features — explanations, Tokunbo Checks, reports and chat. ₦1,000 buys 100 ASC. You get 50 free on signup, credits never expire, and everything else in the app stays free.
Does it work on Tokunbo cars?
It was built for them. Tokunbo mode starts every service counter from your current mileage, treats your first scan as a baseline health audit, and tells the AI to assess conservatively because the service history is unknown.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Fault code reading, plain-English descriptions, service reminders and trip logging all run locally on your phone and sync when you're back online. Only AI features need a connection.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your vehicle data belongs to you — export or delete it any time. VINs are encrypted at rest, precise locations are coarsened before storage, and we never sell personal data. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Can I use it for more than one car?
Up to 5 vehicles on the free tier, each with its own history and reminders — plus view-only family invites so one person can watch over the whole household's cars. Enterprise plans remove the cap.
